Hello October!

Wednesday, October 3, 2007

If I had to pick one month to be my bestest friend, October would win. We would have sleep overs, eat pizza, and braid each other's hair. I would buy a best friend's heart necklace and October and I would wear it proudly. I love October. Lily's birthday is in October. Jparks' birthday is in October. Jobs that I start in October turn out to be the ones I like the most (I started my current job on October 16th of last year). October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month (ladies go feel around on your boobs). Plus October likes to go out with a bang, the best holiday ever, Halloween.

I'm hoping that by the time Halloween rolls around jparks and I will have some kind of fun plans that require costumes. And since I hate last minute costume planning, I'm starting to think about them now and am coming up with absolutely no ideas. I'm going to turn the task over to you in the hopes that you might have some great ideas for us.

I'm fine with matching outfits (two years ago I was a witch and he was my black cat) as well as totally unrelated costume ideas. I would love for his to be as embarrassing as possible, because really that just makes it more fun for everyone involved. Except for maybe jparks, but whatever.

And even if you don't have costume suggestions, you should leave me a comment in honor of The Great Mofo Delurk which is happening around the interweb today. Drop me a line saying hi so I know that more than just spammers are checking out this here blog o'mine.

Ok, back to lurking.

Is it delurking if I've posted here before? ;)

Unfortunately, I'm not a good person to ask about costume ideas, because I suck at them. But my Mom went as a pregnant pope with the word "bambino" on her outfit with an arrow pointing at the pillow over her tummy, while my Dad went as a male nun (with his big ol' beard in full view). They were a hit, but YMMV.

Jparks could go in JT's dick in a box costume and you could go as Jessica Biel or he could be k-fed and you can be Britney. I doubt Kathy will lend you her kids to complete the outfit, but I'll bet you can find some dolls to fill in and you can get into a screaming fight in public b/c it's all about being in character.

Also? Having read Jennie's comment above, I now have Cowboy Mouth in my head. It won't stop.

Last year I was Alice in Wonderland and Adam was the White Rabbit. I was really upset because no one recognized who we were, I thought it was so obvious, but unless you're wearing the tarty, trampy version of a costume the general public is stoopid.
Also happy delurking day.

I have no good costume ideas for you. Rebecca and I usually lock ourselves in and hope the kids go away. So I don't think I'll really be of any help.

I'm so glad Halloween is someone else's favorite holiday too!! Everyone I've ever met is so boring with their CHRISTMASCHRISTMASCHRISTMAS.

I love October, too! Because it's Arthur's birthday, Halloween and BASEBALL BASEBALL BASEBALL!!!! And the Cubs are actually playing in October this year! Not that they'll actually win anything. But oh well. I'm wearing my Cubs NL Central Division Champs shirt right now!!! (I also have a hat :-) )
