...because I can't afford gas
I would like to call this picture...

Man, we are all totally screwed. You best go put your name on a Prius waiting list right now.

Oh, gosh, we used to live in CA, in Ladera Ranch and I remember how expensive it was. Even here in the midwest (where pay is lower but costs are, too) things are skyrocketing. Gas is around $3.50 here, a gallon of milk is over $3.00 (closer to $4.00) and even eggs have gone up.

It's a scary, scary thing...

You'd think exercise and good health would be strong enough motivators to get me to take the bike and Caltrain to work more days, but no. Being a cheapskate works better! Because my employer pays $110 every month for public transit, every time I take the train instead of drive to work, I save $11. That more than covers most lunches! I foresee myself being much more diligent about this starting, oh, a month ago.

ack! Normally when people complain about gas I tell them that the price of gas in Alberta (where the main business is gas/oil, where there is more oil than in Texas, and possibly in the Middle East) is over $1.00 a litre, and there are 4 litres in a gallon, so it's $4.00 there. But now it's the same, and, yeeouch!
I think we should get a prius too, or a Volt, which is the electric car that Chevy was gonna make and stopped and might have started again.

That's okay, here in Gonzales, LA it is 3.05, 3.09, 3.14, 3.24, and 3.29, all within about 2 miles of each other. I swear this town in bipolar....

Just thank the people of the state of California. They'll vote for anything and never think about where the money comes from. The tax on that gas accounts for something like seventy-five cents on the gallon. Meanwhile, here in Austin, I'm paying about $3.10 a gallon. Too bad Cap Metro stinks - it's two hours each way to take the bus to work.
